Lucy Galbraith

MENTAL HEALTH SOCIAL WORKER | CREDENTIALED EATING DISORDER CLINICIAN

I support individuals to navigate challenges and move toward a life that feels more balanced, fulfilling and authentically their own.  My approach is person-centered in that I seek to understand and build upon the unique strengths and experiences of the people that I work with. I weave evidence-based practices into relaxed and genuine conversation, creating a safe and non-judgemental space for you to share and reflect.

I have worked in various private and community-based settings, supporting adults and adolescents with their mental health and wellbeing. I have worked extensively in the primary treatment of eating disorders and feel passionate about supporting those who are struggling with eating or body image concerns. My background includes refugee settlement, homelessness and youth work, which has led me to develop a particular interest in acute and complex trauma.

As a Mental Health Social Worker, I take a holistic approach to therapy by considering not just an individual’s mental health, but also how it affects and is affected by other aspects of their life such as relationships, financial stress, substance use, physical health or discrimination. By addressing interconnected issues such as these, I aim to provide comprehensive support that promotes overall well-being.

In my work I draw upon a variety of therapeutic modalities including Schema Therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT),  Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), and Self-Compassion principles. I am also a registered trauma-informed yoga instructor and enjoy designing workshops and programs which integrate psychology with body-based and mindfulness practices.

I look forward to meeting you soon at GrayMind Psychology.
