Dr Anna Hickling

CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGIST | CREDENTIALED EATING DISORDER CLINICIAN

I aim to create a space where you feel comfortable and supported to share your experiences and learn more about yourself. My therapeutic style is warm, empathetic, and approachable in nature and I prioritise working collaboratively to ensure we are focussing on what is important to you and will empower you to best support yourself outside of sessions.

I have previously worked with people across the lifespan in private and public mental health settings including a specialist eating disorder team and corrective services (providing drug and alcohol support). With a PhD in the area of clinical health psychology, I have a particular interest in the interplay of physical and mental health problems and believe that therapy plays an important role in managing and adjusting to chronic illness.

The therapies I primarily draw from are Schema Therapy and Emotion-Focussed/Psychodynamic Therapies, however, I also practice more structured therapies such as CBT, ACT, and DBT when indicated or preferred. In our sessions, I will guide you to build insight regarding the impact of your past experiences on your life today and become more comfortable in understanding and expressing your emotions.

I am a culture, gender, sexuality, and neurodiversity inclusive practitioner and aim to always provide a safe and affirming space for any person seeing me for therapy.

Please reach out if you have any questions and I look forward to getting to speak with you soon at GrayMind Psychology.
