Samantha Sloane
MENTAL HEALTH SOCIAL WORKER
I am deeply committed to creating a non-judgmental and safe space where mothers and parents can receive support for both the big and small challenges in the transition to parenting. In a world where there is often immense pressure and judgment placed on women and mothers, my goal is to help you navigate this transition with understanding and compassion.
I specialise in perinatal mental health support, providing counselling and therapeutic interventions to mothers and parents through the challenges of pregnancy, the transition to parenthood, and beyond. I have trained with the Perinatal Training Centre for Perinatal Mental Health and am an accredited Circle of Security® Facilitator, an attachment based parenting program.
I am passionate about supporting women through the many challenges that may arise in the perinatal period, including anxiety, low mood and depression, postnatal depression (PND), postnatal anxiety (PNA), birth trauma, perfectionism in motherhood, adjustment challenges, maternal distress, anger and overwhelm, attachment challenges, transition from one to two children, perinatal loss, relationship difficulties and challenges in the transition to parenting and the impact of childhood trauma on parenting.
I am an accredited Mental Health Social Worker with a background in psychology and social work, offering over eight years of experience in mental health and counselling support in the women's and family settings.
I would describe my approach as warm, client-centred, trauma-informed, and compassionate, grounded in an attachment-based frameworks that keeps the baby/s and child/ren in mind. I draw on primary therapeutic models including Attachment-Based frameworks, the Circle of Security model, Compassion-Focused Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), grief and loss work, and family therapy/systemic approaches.
I am eager to work with you in an individual and group setting here at GrayMind.
